Drew was born and raised in the small farming town of Standard, Alberta about an hour outside of Calgary. Between working on the family farm and going to school he always enjoyed playing guitar. He became well known for showing up to every high school party with a guitar on his back.
In the years that followed High School, Drew attended SAIT, obtaining a degree in Geomatics. Spending a year in the field surveying, he realized this wasn't for him, setting off on a back packing trip to Australia in search of his future. Upon returning to his native farmland, he realized this is where he was meant to be, allowing him the time to pursue his love of music. He began to concentrate on writing his own songs and further developing his vocals. His sister, Natalie, who also has a love of music, secured a position at a recording studio. This opened another door for Drew, enabling the two of them to record an acoustic CD of his own songs as a gift to their mom at Christmas. Since then Drew has not looked back and knew what he had to do to full fill his dream.
“Once people heard I’d made a CD everyone started asking for one”. This was the driving factor that lead Drew to make the decision of heading to Nashville. Within a month, he had his truck packed with some clothes and a guitar and made the long journey to Nashville. Here he met many writers, artists and other contacts and gaining a whole new appreciation for the music business.
Drew has since been back to Nashville frequently, spending the last three winters there recording one full length album, titled “Country Hurricane” and a four song EP titled “My Drunk Friends” which became everyone’s party album for the summer! Drew captivated everyone at the 2010 “Country 105 Rising Star”, making the finals and being the winning recipient for best original song for the title track “Country Hurricane”. With the door swung open, Drew has had the opportunity to open for other artists and is rapidly becoming a favorite at local rodeos and events throughout Alberta.
Releasing his debut single “Lay It All Out There” in January 2012; Drew is thankful for the many stations that took the time to listen, and are playing his single. Charting in the top 90 on Canadian media base as an Independent was a highlight for his debut single as well. Recently releasing his second single “Country Hurricane”, the all time fan favorite from the album; he looks forward to sharing his music across Canada. Drew eagerly awaits the opportunity to meet many of his new fans he has made along the way. Currently honing his writing skills, with anticipation of releasing his sophomore album in early 2013. Keep your eyes and ears on Drew Gregory... the future shines bright for this aspiring artist!
Drew continues to farm with his dad and is very busy touring all over Alberta with his band “The Hired Guns” and looks forward to his cross Canada tour. With his two passions in life in full swing, this young rising star couldn’t be happier.
